Officers of the Board

President: Dr. Gordon L. Anderson

Gordon Anderson is the President of Paragon House (1996-), a company that publishes academic and non-fiction books in St. Paul, MN. He is also the editor-in-chief of International Journal on World Peace (1992-), an academic journal publishing articles related to all aspects of world peace. He has served on the Board of LEA since 1999 and has been the President since 2007. He is author of the book Philosophy of the United States: Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness (2004) and Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness, Version 4.0 (2009).

Dr. Anderson earned his Ph.D. in Philosophy of Religion (1986), with a minor in International Relations, at the Claremont Graduate University in California. He also earned a Master’s degree in Christian Ethics from Union Theological Seminary in New York, and a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from the University of Minnesota. He is married, has four children, and lives in Ramsey County. He has served on the LEA Board since 1999.


Vice-President: Mr. John Augustine

John Augustine works in management for a family recreational business, and lives in Washington County. He is married with one child, has served on the LEA Board of Directors since 2002, and as LEA’s Vice-President since 2007. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science from St. Cloud State University.

Mr. Augustine also worked at Human Events in Washington, D.C., as an intern through the National Journalism Center in the early 1990s, after which he returned to Minnesota and edited a newspaper and a couple of political newsletters. In 2001, he served a term as Chairman of the John Adams Society (www.johnadamssociety.org), a conservative debate society based in Minnesota.


Secretary: Mr. Benjamin Hedberg

Benjamin Hedberg is a sixth generation Minnesotan from a family with roots dating back to the state’s territorial days.  With over a decade of top level experience in organizational and business management, he has served as a legislative assistant, campaign manager, and senior policy advisor to a Minnesota State Senator.

A committed constitutionalist and government reformer, Hedberg has also served his hometown as an election judge; the business community through his regional chamber of commerce; and was twice elected chairman of one of Minnesota’s most prominent congressional district political organizations.  A former alternate member of the Republican State Executive Committee, he was first elected to the MNLEA board in 2008.
